Instrumentation : PfCommissioned by the Gilmore Festival and premiered by Gilbert Kalish, this work includes J.S. Bach´s original aria and 12 new variations by Del Tredici, Foss, Hersch, Bolcom, Sheng, Higdon, Gothoni, Curtis-Smith, Zupko, Walden, Bermel and Lerdahl. It has been performed twice at the Gilmore Keyboard Festival (once by Kalish himself), and in 2006 by Lori Sims).
