This is the first scholarly and practical edition of the Harp Consorts of William Lawes (1602-1645). Scored for solo violin, division viol, harp and theorbo. Division viol refers to bass viol slightly smaller than a consort bass. There are 11 consorts in the collection: the first 6 include 4 or 5 dance movements. No. 7 is a single Aire, Nos. 8-10 are Pavens, and No. 11 is a Fantasy.
